NEW SCHOLARSHIPS:

Wayne County Community Federal Credit Union Scholarship-2021:  WCCFCU Awards two scholarships annually.in the amount of $500 each.  Applications are available at www.wccfcu.com.  Completed application must be received in the WCCFU office by mail, email (info@wccfcu.com), in person or in the WCCFCU night depository by 11:59PM, APRIL 15th, 2021 (Deadline).

STAR SCHOLARSHIP / WCSCC:  The Wayne County Schools Career Center is again sponsoring the $1,000 Star Scholarship for full-time career development training through Adult & Community Education at the WCSCC.  All application information is kept confidential.  Applications are now available in the Guidance Office with a deadline of April 15th. 

ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP / TIMKEN STEEL - Canton-Massillon Chapter of ASM International:  The senior must be admitted for direct enrollment in an ABET accredited College of Engineering for the Fall of 2021 semester.  Up to two $2,000 scholarships will be awarded.  Applications are now available in the Guidance Office with a deadline of:  April 23rd.

WAYNE COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP INFO: Graduating Seniors applying to Wayne College with a 3.5 GPA; a 24 ACT or higher; fully admitted to Wayne College with the Wayne College Scholarship Application which is submitted by March 1st,2021 will be considered.  Eligibility is not based on Financial Need or College Credit done in high school.  Student must be enrolled as a full-time student at Wayne College with at least 12 credit hours or more.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Kristin Foy Samson at Wayne College.

THE Class of 2021 Scholarship packets were passed out Thur & Fri, Feb 4th & 5th to all seniors in attendance by Mrs. Hamsher.  If you did not receive yours, they were available to pick up in the OHS Guidance Office, or from Betty at the Career Center.  Continue to check the Wayne County Community Foundation website, for anything new to Apply Online.  Deadline for our Local Scholarships WAS:  March 11th, 2021

WCCF (Wayne County Community Foundation) 2021 Scholarships:  The WCCF has already updated this years (2020-21) scholarship information.  Seniors, get a head start and sign on to their website and check out which scholarships you are eligible to apply for.  Some have an actual paper application that you can print off and complete, and others you need to have your RESUME', Letters of Recommendation, Essays, etc...ready to apply for them online at the WCCF website (https://www.waynecountycommunityfoundation.org/grants-and-scholarships)Other Scholarship information and applications will be handed out at the Senior Scholarship Meeting on Wed, February 11th, 2021If you have any questions, please stop in the OHS Guidance Office.

UPWARD BOUND: See Mrs. Berry, Rm #113  Thinking about college?  Don't know how to get there?  UPWARD BOUND is a program which helps eligible students prepare for and then succeed in college.  Who is Eligible?  Students who want to continue their education beyond high school, have financial need and/or are living with parents who do not have a bachelor's degree.  Ohio State ATI Upward Bound serves students at four (4) high schools in the area.

THE UNIVERSITY OF AKRON / WANYNE COLLEGE:  Greetings from The University of Akron (UA)...I hope you are doing well and having a great week.  Sending positive thoughts to you during this challenging time…I wanted to share some news that we have recently extending our early application scholarship deadline to January 4, 2021. This means, students who complete an admissions application AND submit a FAFSA now by January 4, 2021, will receive the $500 early application scholarship. There is no academic criteria required to receive the early application scholarship award (just submit the application and the FAFSA by 1/4/2021).  Students who apply for admission are also considered for the Akron Guarantee Scholarship (AGS) at the time of admission. We also have a number of other scholarship opportunities that students can apply seperately for at- www.uakron.edu/scholarships.  CONTACT:  Michele Stasitis, Associate Director of Admissions, Office of Admissions, The University of Akron, Simmons Hall 109, Akron, OH  44325-2001  (ALSO:  Make sure your FAFSA is completed by DEC 1st preceding each new academic year)  

AMP OHIO - Orrville Utilities Scholarship:  Any Senior with a 3.0 GPA or above may apply for the AMP OHIO - Lyle B. Wright Scholarship (up to five, one-time $3,000 scholarships awarded).  If you are a senior and your household receives power from a Public Power Community (City of Orrville) and are graduating in 2021, you may apply!  Please submit an Essay which the TOPIC will be:  "Benefits of a Public Power Utility in the Community" with 750 words or less; Your birth date and first name initial of applicant must be in the Top Right hand corner of your Essay,  Please submit to the OHS Guidance Office as soon as completed so we meet the December 18th deadline!  

BALDWIN WALLACE UNIVERSITY:  To schedule a personal visit at:  www.bw.edu/events or email admission@bw.edu.  The Priority Application Deadline is NOV 1st; but, students are encouraged to apply BEFORE May 1st so they are in a position to meet the priority student deposit deadline.  Applications will continue to be accepted on a space available basis until the start of the fall semester.  

BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY / TRADE SCHOOL & COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP:  Three deserving high school seniors will be receiving a $1000 per year scholarship, up to four years.  If you are planning to attend a college, university or trade school for the Fall of 2021, have a 3.0 GPA or better, reside in western PA or eastern Ohio (Wayne County is included), performed leadership, volunteerism, shown character and positive attitude and serving as an example to fellow students as a participant in community, charity and school related activities, been accepted as a full-time student (12 credit hours or equivalent).  Applications are available in the OHS Guidance Office along with complete instructions and must be completed legibly and signed by the applicant.  Deadline for applications is:  Must be received by Friday, February 12th, 2021 at 4:00 PM.  Mrs. Smucker in Guidance will help with a transcript, postage and mailing of applications! 

BOWLING GREEN STATE UNIVERSITY:  Entrepreneurship - The Paul J. Hooker Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership in the College of Business is ranked among the top 20 entrepreneurship centers in the world!  Visit: bgsu.edu/visit for more information.  ALSO:  Science & Math Education in ACTION - This program offers up to $4,000 the first year of college with increases each year up to more than $5,000 the ofurth year, a scholarship valued at a total of approximately $20,000 (based on continued state funding).  You must be an Ohio resident, incoming freshman in fall of 2021; have a Min H.S. CLEVELAND STATE UNIVERSITY - Balanced Man Scholarship:  Every year the chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon offers scholarships for next fall to incoming freshmen men for their activities and accomplishments.  This scholarship is to award graduating male seniors who exemplify the qualities of a Sound Mind and a Sound Body, as these are two ideals essential to leading a balanced life.  Applications must be submitted by August of 2021 and be enrolled full-time at Cleveland State for the 2021-22 year.  Apply online at:  csuohio.edu/SigEp or Clevelandstate.sigep.org.  Find more events at:  engagecsu.com/visit

FARM BUREAU OF WAYNE COUNTY SCHOLARSHIP:  Any senior planning to continue their education in an agriculture-related field and is a member of the Farm Bureau may apply for this scholarship online at:  www.ofbf.org/foundation/scholarships.  Deadline for applying will be the end of March, 2021.  

HORATIO ALGER CAREER & TECHNICAL SCHOLARSHIP:   This scholarship seeks to assist students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial need, commitment to pursue career or technical certification/degree, and a desire to contribute to society.  Applicants must have graduated and enrolled in an eligible program for Fall of 2021; exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a career or technical program (up to 2 years) at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the U.S.; Demonstrated citical financial need & perseverence in overcoming adversity; be under the age of 30; and be a U.S. Citizen.  An online application will be available at:  application.horatioalger.org; a copy of the full SAR; Income documentation must be submitted online; proof of citizenship (if not born in the U.S.).  Deadline:  April 15th, 2021

THE DAN LAUBACHER MEMORIAL FOUNDATION ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP:  Created in Memory of Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Daniel L. Laubacher #1327 - End of Watch May 13th, 2014 - An annual scholarship will be awarded to a student pursuing an education in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or a related field.  The value of this award is $1,000.  The scholarship is awarded directly to the students' academic institution in his or her name.  Applications will be available in the Guidance Office in the Spring of 2021.  

LAWS OF LIFE ESSAY CONTEST:   Each year the BBB of Akron awards over $5,000 to students and teachers for winning entries in our six-county service area.  This years theme is UNITY.  They ask students, grades 9 - 12, to reflect on what UNITY means to them; why it is an important Law of Life, how they learned the trait, and what they have experienced or observed that may have changed their behavior to live up to that law.  With many uncertainties of 2020; COVID-19, race relations, school, sports and everything else in the world that has forced us apart - UNITY is more important now more than ever.  Details and applications are available in the OHS Guidance Office.  All entries must be submitted via email or postmarked by March 5th, 2021.  ALSO:  All OHS English teachers were given information on this essay contest.  Finalists will be notified by May 2021.

THE WILLIAM D. SQUIRES EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION, INC SCHOLARSHIPS:  They are offering 20 scholarships in the amount of $4,000 to $5,000.  This can be a renewable scholarship for a potential value of $20,000; Must know career goal; Have good character and be highly motivated. To apply you must have a 3.20 GPA or above.  The yearly William D. VNA HEALTH GROUP - FUTURE NURSE LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP:  The VNA Scholarship is exclusive to nursing students either entering into a BSN program or currently enrolled in a BSN Program for the 2020 Fall Semester.  The scholarship award is $1,000 and two (2) applicants will be selected.  The scholarship application packet is available online at: http://www.vnahg.org/nursescholarship.  All completed forms and required documents must be received no later than the closing date of mid APRIL 2021.

WCSCC STAR SCHOLARSHIP:  The Wayne County Schools Career Center is offering the $1,000 Star Scholarship for a senior at each high school in the county if they are enrolling in one of the following programs:  Office Technology (Administrative Office Professional); Healthcare (Practical Nursing, Medical Assisting, Dental Assisting); Trade & Industry (Manufacturing Technology; and Service Industry (Cosmetology.  See your Guidance Counselor to apply!  Applications are usually due in April, 2021.  

WAYNE COUNTY COMMITTEE FOR CRIPPLED CHILDREN & ADULTS:  This committee offers scholarships to those young adults with physical handicaps who wish to continue their education in college or technical school.  The award would be $1,000 for the first year, and then $1,500 for the following three years.  If you would have any questions about this, please contact Wendi Warren at 330.421.0310.  

WAYNE COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION - YOUTH FOUNDATION FUND:  This program was established to support Wayne County youth projects.  To be a part of this program, applicants must be entering their Junior year of H.S.  This select group of high school students will gain valuable leadership experience, learn more about local charitable giving, understand how investments grow charitable funds, evaluate and recommend grant awards, and meet local philanthropic leaders.  Meetings are held one sunday per month during the school year 2-3 hour meetings.  There is no cost to apply.  Applications are available in the OHS Guidance Office and must be received by APRIL 1st.  

WAYNE COUNTY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION $500 SCHOLARSHIP:  (checking with the Credit Union to see about scholarship availability for the 2021 graduates)
